How I went from Victim to Creator
Power of Choice
I see this happening all the time where women get down on themselves because they feel like they can’t do something. I often hear
”I can’t move like that”
”I’m not sexy”
”I can’t get out of my head”
If you’re familiar with the drama triangle and the flip side of the empowerment dynamic then you know what I’m talking about.
We all have the power of choice. Sometimes, the choice being made is subconscious and it feels like there are not other options. Life happens but what if we could look at it two different ways?
1. Be the Victim: This is where something happens to us and we feel hurt, helpless, powerless and afraid. We get “stuck” in this mode and can’t seem to move forward. We’re looking for someone to be the rescuer and fix the problem for us.
2. Become the Conscious Creator: This is where we take accountability for our shit (actions, behaviours, emotions, etc) and create a different outlook on our reality so that we learn from our experiences. Simply put, if I want something to change, I have to do it myself. No one is going to change this for me. I choose to become the creator of my own reality. I choose to make the best out of any situation.
That doesn’t mean that everything is peachy all the time it doesn’t mean that it’s not okay to feel like a victim but we have to move through it rather than get stuck in it. It means that every experience is a learning opportunity and you can choose to decide what you want to do with that information.
Here’s an example:
Victim: Sarah always wanted to try pole but kept telling herself, “I can’t do it, I’m too clumsy and not confident enough.” She watched others excel and felt discouraged and envious, believing she would never be able to move like that. She feels trapped in her insecurities and is waiting for someone to tell her she is capable before she even tries.
Conscious Creator: Sarah decided she wanted to give pole dancing a real shot. Instead of focusing on what she thought she couldn’t do, she signed up for the Intro to Pole class at EmbodiPole. She approached each class with an open mind, celebrated small victories, and gradually built her confidence and strength. She took responsibility for her progress and embraced her journey, knowing that she had the power to transform her skills and self-belief.
If you’re a member of EmbodiPole, we will go deeper into this in classes. If you want to explore the Power of Choice this month then start with our Intro to Pole using our EmbodiPole Method.
