January: A Month of Self-Devotion
The last few years, I’ve been on a journey of self-devotion. I’ve been chasing that feeling of being alive and sensually awakened. Before that, I didn’t really know what it meant. Especially after having kids and running a business full-time, I had to figure out how to prioritize myself and my embodiment practices.
I noticed my brain becoming foggy. I was drained, exhausted and I felt overstimulated in a way I hadn’t before. Two kids and a more than full-time business will do that to you! I was overwhelmed trying to do it all—mom, wife, business owner—and it wasn’t sustainable. Luckily, my husband worked from home, which allowed him to watch the kids so I could work or enjoy some much-needed me-time whether that meant taking a nap, working out, doing pole and embodiment practices, or just getting out of the house so I didn’t go stir-crazy.
It took some practice to juggle it all, but I’ve found that I now show up better for my family and business, feeling more grounded and able to handle and hold more.
I feel more awake, energized and alive! And let me tell you—it’s been life-changing!
This month, I want to invite you to explore what self-devotion could look like for you.
This isn’t about New Year’s resolutions or trying to “fix” yourself. It’s about remembering who you are beneath the noise and chaos of daily life. It’s about choosing yourself again and again, even when it feels uncomfortable or messy.
Devotion doesn’t have to look like a grand gesture. It’s found in the small, intentional choices you make every day:
Saying yes to what you need and no to what doesn’t serve you.
Slowing down, breathing, and feeling what’s alive in your body.
Reclaiming your time from distractions, over-scheduling, and people-pleasing.
Prioritizing rest, play, and pleasure unapologetically.
For me, pole has been one of the biggest ways I reconnect with myself. It’s where I honour my body, feel my emotions, and awaken my Eros—that deep, lifeforce energy that fuels creativity, connection, and vitality.
So what does a ritual of you look like this month?
Devote your time and energy to your pole practice. Let the pole be your sanctuary—a place to move and come back home to yourself.
Reclaim your sensuality as a source of power, not performance. What lights you up? What makes you feel truly alive? Let yourself explore the sensations and rhythms of your body, honouring it as a sacred temple of pleasure and wisdom.
Release shame and embrace curiosity. Whether it’s through self-touch, sensual movement, or simply being present with your desires, devotion to yourself includes loving all of you—your light, your shadows, and everything in between.
Create space to breathe and reflect. Journaling, stillness, or just a quiet moment with your thoughts—this is where you can hear your own voice again, free from distractions or outside demands.
When you choose to devote yourself to yourself, you begin to see that every small act of love, every boundary you set, every moment you prioritize your pleasure and rest, is an offering to your highest self.
Let this month be a journey of saying yes to yourself. Your Eros, your energy, and your essence are waiting for you to come home.
Own Your Energy,
Karolyne
