Stop apologizing for your tears

We need to stop apologizing for our tears.

I see it all the time in circle. Women share something vulnerable, tears come up, and the first thing they say is “sorry”, but crying isn’t something to be sorry for.

It’s a release, a natural, human response, just as valid as laughter or joy.

For most of my life, I didn’t allow myself to cry. I held it all in, and it showed up in other ways: anger, shutdown, awkwardness around others’ emotions. I couldn’t even be with tears. I froze.

After doing this work, I now treat them differently. When I cry, I’m not asking to be rescued. I’m letting my body process what it needs to.

Tears aren’t weakness, they’re medicine.

So let them flow. Without shame. Without apology.
